༄༅། །དཀའ་བ་མཆོག་བརྒྱད་ཀྱི་མགུར།
A Spiritual Song on the Eight Supreme Difficulties

ཡང་ནཱ་རོ་པས་མགུར་བཞེངས་པ།
Naropa once intoned this spiritual song.
མི་ཁོམ་བརྒྱད་པོ་ཀུན་སྤངས་ནས། །
དལ་འབྱོར་མི་ལུས་ཐོབ་པར་དཀའ། །
It is difficult to find a human form
that is not affected by the eight kinds of limitations.
འཁོར་བའི་ཆོས་ལ་ཡིད་སྐྱོ་བའི། །
མྱ་ངན་འདས་པ་སྒྲུབ་པར་དཀའ། །
It is difficult to achieve nirvana,
which means to be free from worldly interests.
ན་བ་ཚ་བ་ཀུན་སྤངས་ནས། །
བཀོལ་དུ་བཏུབ་པའི་ལུས་ཀྱང་དཀའ། །
It is also difficult to find a healthy body
free of disease in order to practice Dharma.
རྒྱུད་དང་མན་ངག་གཉིས་ལྡན་པའི། །
སྙིང་རྗེ་ཅན་གྱི་སློབ་དཔོན་དཀའ། །
It is also difficult to find a master
who has the qualities of lineage and education.
དད་པ་སྐྱོ་ངལ་མེད་པ་ཡི། །
རི་ཁྲོད་འགྲིམ་པའི་སློབ་མ་དཀའ། །
It is also difficult to find a student
who is dedicated, hard-working and enthusiastic.
འཇིགས་དང་དོགས་པ་རྣམས་སྤངས་པའི། །
ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པའི་དགོན་པ་དཀའ། །
It is also difficult to find a hermitage
free from fear and suspicion.
ལྟ་སྤྱོད་ཟུང་དུ་འཇུག་པ་ཡི། །
བསམ་པ་མཐུན་པའི་ཆོས་གྲོགས་དཀའ། །
It is also difficult to find Dharma friends
who share the same views and practices as you.
དེ་བདུན་འཛོམས་པར་གྱུར་ཀྱང་ནི། །
རྩེ་གཅིག་གི་བསམ་གཏན་བསྒོམ་པར་དཀའ། །
Even if you possess all these qualities,
it can be difficult to focus upon single point when meditating.
ཞེས་དཀའ་བ་མཆོག་བརྒྱད་ཀྱི་མགུར་ནཱ་རོ་པའི་གདུགས་ཀྱི་ཡུ་བ་ལ་བྲིས་ནས་འདུག་གསུངས།
It is said that this spiritual chant entitled "The Eight Supreme Difficulties" was engraved on the handle of Nāropa's parasol.
