“Chötrul Dawa”  ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་ཟླ་བ་  “Miraculous Month”

(This year, 2026, from 18 February and last for 15 days)

The term 'Chotrul Dawa' is translated as 'Miraculous Month' or 'Month of Miracles' and refers to the first month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. This period is of significant importance and is known as Losar, the Tibetan New Year. The event is scheduled to commence on 18 February 2026 and is expected to span a duration of 15 days.

This period is commemorated to mark the time when Buddha Shakyamuni performed a different and profound miracle every day for 15 days. The objective of this undertaking was twofold: firstly, to enhance the merit and devotion of prospective disciples, and secondly, to rectify the erroneous views of six rival teachers (tirthika) and to instil faith in his adherents.

It is evident that the occurrence of the miracles took place in Shravasti, and that these reached their zenith on the fifteenth day, with a variety of manifestations of divine power. The fifteenth day of the first month, when the moon is full, is known as Chötrul Düchen ('Great Day of Miraculous Manifestations') and is one of the four main Buddhist holidays. Consequently, Chötrul Düchen is not solely a commemoration of past marvels; it continues to signify a perpetual occasion.

It is a commonly held belief that every act of generosity, prayer, mantra recitation, offering and kindness during these days carries immense spiritual power. However, it is important to note that in order to accumulate merit, it is essential to act with pure intentions.
It is imperative to fortify one's dedication to the Three Jewels.
It is imperative to abstain from any actions that could be perceived as harmful.
It is imperative to dedicate all virtues to the enlightenment of all beings.

Two other significant spiritual events are celebrated in this same month: Ramadan and Lent. These events, which originate from different traditions, symbolise the unity of humanity and the deep connection between spiritual practices, despite their beautiful and fruitful diversity.

It is hoped that these extraordinary days will serve to inspire deeper faith, with an enthusiastic desire to deepen one's practice in order to bring peace and liberation to the entire world.

Losar 2026, the Tibetan New Year of the Fire Horse,

 falls on 18 February!

Tibetans will celebrate Losar from 18 to 21 February 2026. According to the Tibetan lunar calendar, the Year of the Fire Horse begins, symbolising courage, energy, and transformation.

The Fire Horse has a strong presence and encourages us to move forward courageously, overcome obstacles and explore new paths with passion.

Losar is a celebration of gratitude for the past year and hope for the future, offering a moment of reflection on the passage of time.

Losar is a time of conscious renewal. In Tibet, homes are cleaned, altars are adorned with ritual offerings, and new prayer flags are hung to invite blessings from all directions.

Families gather to share festive foods such as guthuk and khapse, offer prayers and wish each other happiness.

Traditionally, Tibetans mark changes in age based on zodiac sign changes, meaning those born in the previous Horse year will reach the age of thirteen during the new year.

Happy Losar and Tashi Delek

Project for a MEDITATION CENTRE in Rome

I am a free Dharma teacher and have been teaching in various parts of Italy for over 25 years. To avoid traveling and to satisfy the desire of many friends who want to follow my teachings and participate in my meditation meetings, I am thinking of creating a BUDDHA MEDITATION CENTER in Rome.

I have thought about creating a small space in Rome as a base to conduct regular Dharma meetings in Rome. My intention is for everyone to be able to attend meditation meetings free of charge, with the possibility of practicing the Dharma for anyone who wishes to do so.

Of course this project is aimed to prompte cultural and interreligious activities and to spread peace as a universal value as an integral part of the center based on my experirnces of more than 25 years frequenting Intercultural activities, attending Interreligious meetings and various form of social and humanitarian conferences in Italy and other parts of the World.

I am interested in providing a modern spiritual education that nevertheless retains its classical values. Dharma, when understood as universal spirituality, produces a state of harmony with all things in the material world. My research ultimately concerns a universal spiritual path of Dharma that is suitable for all human beings and beneficial to all sentient beings. I would like it to be based on the wisdom and traditional method of the Lam Rim scriptures, while remaining in harmony with modern advantages and comforts, including sophisticated technologies, and integrating with other cultures, other spiritual traditions and existing education systems. I would like to see spiritual openness that goes beyond all the barriers between religions and spiritual groups, and where anyone seeking spiritual enrichment can find a shared foundation for universal harmony

This requires financial support to have and maintain a place with the necessary amenities

LHABAB DUCHEN

In Tibetan, Lhabab Duchen means ‘Festival of the Descent from Heaven’

At the age of 41, the Buddha ascended to the Trayastrimsa heaven to give teachings to the gods of that desire realm. His mother also dwelled in that heaven and he repaid her kindness by liberating her from Samasara. His disciples on earth began to worry about his coming back, and exhorted him to return. Following a long debate under a full moon, he agreed, and a week later, descended back to earth on a triple ladder prepared by Viswakarma, the god of craftsmen and machines.

On the 22nd day of the ninth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar, Tibetan Buddhists celebrate the Buddha’s descent from heaven to resume his work of showing them a path to liberation from Samsara. This day is dedicated this day to religious activity, which, for most lay people, means the reciting of mantras, prostrations and circumambulating holy sites. It is believed that the merit accumulated on that day is multiplied manifold.

Lhabab Duchen, this year falls on the 11th November 2025.

News Update

The course of treatment was completed in mid-July 2025, after taking a year to make a full recovery from the health problem that manifested itself at the end of June 2024. Further diagnostic tests are planned in the coming months to verify the full recovery.

My dharma activities in the various invitations from various dharma friends are still at a standstill and I hope to resume them soon with a joyful heart.

Meditation Meeting

This afternoon, I had the honour of addressing a group of Qigong practitioners in Rome. I was there to give a brief introduction to meditation. The group already had experience of meditation, which they practiced at the end of their sessions.

I gave a concise presentation providing an overview of meditation, focusing on the first two practices of the Four Awarenesses. I then asked the attendees to assume a meditative posture. They were instructed to focus on slow, regular breathing.

They were then asked to contemplate the structure of the body from gross to subtle levels while maintaining awareness of their breathing rhythm.

Next, they practised meditation, focusing on bodily sensations and breathing. The aim of this exercise was to become aware of the sensations in every part of the body and in the breathing process, acknowledging whether they were pleasant, unpleasant or neutral, without passing judgement.

Afterwards, a short talk was given on the next two types of awareness: that of the mind and that of the Dharma. We concluded the session with a question-and-answer session.

This was the first meditation meeting since summer 2024, when I was hospitalised and received various diagnoses. I am continuing therapy and improving; I will finish this specific therapy in mid-July.

The News Update

Unfortunately, during the Christmas holidays, starting at the end of December 2024, I had to start a new treatment for quite a long period, which requires great attention and concentration. It is therefore with great regret that I had to cancel other dates already scheduled for 2025. Today my general health is not bad and seems normal. But continuing to undergo a long period of treatment and analysis has become a challenge and requires a lot of energy and concentration.

News

In 2024, the months of February and March I went to my home in Pokhara, Nepal. My father had been ill for some time and unfortunately passed away a month and a half after my arrival. During this time I had the opportunity to personally serve him. We respectfully arranged all kinds of treatments, traditional rituals and puja. I was deeply touched and saddened to witness such difficult moments for the whole family.

Two weeks later, I travelled to Kathmandu by taxi (18 hours journey due to traffic jams, bad roads, rain and landslides) as my Flight, from Pokhara to Kathmandu was cancelled due to bad weather. The next morning From Kathmandu I took a flight to Rome via Chendu, a long journey.

When I returned to Rome, I had no new health problems until the end of June. In July I felt unwell and ended up in a Roman hospital for a whole month. When I was discharged at the end of the summer, everything seemed to be fine. However, I had to cancel my upcoming Dharma teaching dates for the winter of 2024.
